23rd Nov 2008 marks the 1st anniversary mum left us.

The memory of fighting with cancer for the last 3 months of her life is still crystal clear in my mind.

Mum, we can't tell how much we missed you. I know dad is still trying to survive without you after a year now, little Daniel missed the fun time with you and Joey hasn't got a chance to even know you better, Victor has to suffer without you.

Time really flies and Daniel is now 3 years old. Looking back at the past 36 months, there were happiness as well as bitterness in the upbringing of this little boy. He often has his own ideas and hold on to it(persistent or stubborn?)...no matter what happens! Active, outspoken, expressive can be used to describe his characteristics and through our observations he learns very quickly. He has not gone through any official education yet, i.e kindergardern or day care yet he already knew all the 26 alphabets and also an animal for each alphabet. He loves animals in particular and we have been to KLCC Aquaria, Zoo Negara and the recent trip to Sunway Wildlife Park.

Note: He is having that little triangle shape on his head as God's gift, maybe we should say it's a trademark!

Thanks to Eric Lim whom recommended a dish which i never had in my life before- Pork Rib. This is something which we definitely cannot get in Malaysia but every common in the other part of the world. Company dinner at Park Royal Hotel

On 21st June, our company held an anuual dinner at Park Royal hotel and the menu was a buffet dinner. This is really welcomed by us as we need to bring Daniel and Joey along and we do not need to wait for all the dishes to be served one by one. But to our dissapointment, the food taste really bad and it seem to us it's a higher class of "economic rice" instead. However, we got to take some nice family photo before leaving...

Updated: Not forgetting how fortunate we were with this lucky draw prize even though we left early...Thanks to Kok Wah and Zen!

Cockroach, Flea and Unknown Bug in Paradise Sandy Bay – 4 Star Hotel in PENANG

9 September 2006, Lily and I checked into Paradise Sandy Bay, Penang. We were placed in a 1-bedroom Suite, No 912.

We went to bed at around 12. We switched off the lights completely and dozed off into the darkness. At around 2am, Lily waked me up, complaining to me that her whole body is full of red spots. The spots itch badly, making her feeling terribly uncomfortable.

Investigation …

Curious about what actually had happened to her; we decided to investigate the root cause of it.

We turn on all the lights in the suite. Upon checking, I noticed small swollen red bumps (like those insect's bite mark) on Lily's neck & body. It itches and seemed to have spread to some of the upper part of her body.

We were puzzled on where would the source of these bites comes from. Could it be insects? We look around the room to find some 'possible entry points' for the insects, but to no available. But since the room 'looks' clean and doors/ windows are tightly shut, we ruled out the possibility that the insects came from outside.

If the insects doesn't comes from outside, it MUST be originated from INSIDE the room. Not wanting to leave anything out, finally we check on her bed – OH MY GOD! We found COCKROACHES & FLEA & UNKNOWN BUGS running on the bed! We killed one flea and catch some to show to the hotel. You can still see the blood stain left on the pillow. That is from its 'Last supper' which probably belongs to Lily's?

Hotel's response

Immediately, we called the front desk and requested for immediate assistance. We clearly told reception regarding the problem that we were facing, and requested for a room change and medical assistance to Lily.

The On-Duty Manager came with the Housekeeping Manager at 2.30am. 3 men came into our room without any female staff. They brought Sheltox spray & 1st aid-kid box. Apparently they think the problems are with the mosquitoes? We explained the situation AGAIN to the on-duty manager. They checked the room condition but did not response anything to us. 3 men keep discussing with Tamil language which we cannot understand.

We were questioning them for some explanation, the on-duty manager response impatiently:

"Madam, this (having fleas/ bugs/ cockroaches nesting underneath the mattress) is out of my control! Maybe you had opened the window and the insect came in from some where. What you expect me to do? "

I was like : EXCUSE ME, IF ENSURING THE CLEANLINESS OF THE ROOM IN ORDER TO LET THE GUEST HAVE A PLEASANT STAY IS NOT YOUR CONTROL / RESPONSIBILITY, THEN WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IN RUNNING A 4 STAR HOTEL ? Not only did they pushed away their responsibility, they even had the guts to asked you back what do you expect them to do ? My Godness!!! What do I expect? I expected at least an apology and subsequent corrective action for this problem!

Dettol & Handy-plus for 1^st aid

Moving on to my second request, which is the medical assistance which I requested earlier. For this, they open the first aid box and handed us Dettol & Handy-plus! That's it. Only this, no first aid, no doctors attending to the wounds on Lily. Common sense - Do you think we need assistance on doing those stuffs?

While Lily's wound is still left unattended, we get to change to a new room FINALLY at 3.30am.

Where is the doctor? Not Hotel's Responsibility, No Doctor?

In the new room over 20 minutes more and STILL being left unattended, we decided to check with the front desk on the status of the medical assistance which we requested much much earlier. The on duty manager responded HE NOT YET CALL ANY DOCTOR. He will do this provided we agreed to bear the cost should the doctor found the red spot is not caused by the bugs 'residing' in the hotel; the hotel will not bear the charges incurred for the doctor's treatment in such case. We agreed to the terms and finally a doctor arrived at 4:30am

Panel Doctor Response: "A llergic is because of the 'HOST". Host -- Which is ourselves?

The doctor too came alone with no one from the hotel accompanying him. He claimed that the red marks were due to allergy, and not bites marks from the bugs. He even go further by saying that the reason for allergy due to the "HOST" reaction. Furthermore, he told us the root caused of "allergy" is not easy to identify. It may not necessary due to bitten by bugs.

He claimed that 'something' may cause allergy to someone, but it may not cause anything at all on another body. He even uses an example, that when someone was bitten by mosquito, he might have a red bite mark on the skin, but other people who was bitten by the same mosquito, may not have any significant sign that he has been bitten. What logic is this?

We were told that it is due to allergic, and the reason behind the allergic is because of the 'HOST" reaction, which is ourselves?

Finally, the doctor asked us if we need injection or tablet. Well, I am not a doctor and don't have any medical background, how could I justified what is the correct treatment?

Before he left, he asked for the treatment/ visit charge. We advised him to liaise the charges with the hotel.

Unpleasant Holiday in " PARADISE"

We are supposed to have a paradise holiday, but unfortunately, it turned out to be totally the opposite. With the services and the room condition that we got, THIS HOTEL DOES NOT ENTITLE A 4 STAR RATING. We are very disappointed with the hotel's services provided to us, not to mention the serious lack of professionalism and responsibility of their staff in handling the welfare of their customers.

Year 2007 is Visit Malaysia Year; Penang is applying for World Heritage. We are upset to experience this unpleasant holiday in the beautiful island.

Hopefully with this can bring attention to Authority of Tourism, Board of Hotel, Travel Agency and Visitors.

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to The robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. Having a child is not easy. Being a parents is even harder. Daniel is now almost 18 months old(1.5 yrs) He knows many things now(ie saying some simple words, expressing his feelings, telling you what he wants and not, recognizing things around esp animals), he acquired all this knowledge through every day activities, ie eating, watching cartoon, observing what others are doing. I am very glad to see how well he is progressing and would like to pay this tribute to the mother of Daniel, my wife and Daniel's caretaker. They both have played a very big role in moulding today's Daniel. A Big Thank you to them!!! How lucky we are, we are now expecting our daughter in end April. I thank GOD for everything we have now and the blessings to come.

I believe GOD has planned all the best for all of us and at the end of 2006, best wishes and greetings from me and ST...

9th July 06 is Daniel's 1st anniversary since born. 12 months could be a short period for you if you are in the midst of enjoying life, but wait till you have children...in 12 months could be days you have sleepless nights, days worrying about your illing kids etc etc and etc. But after all, when you see your son is healthy and happily 1 year old, the happiness overcome whatever grief you had earlier on...but this is only the 1st 12 months...many more 12 months to come...warn you!!!

These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion.When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

1st thing 1st: The roof top

The roof tile replacement work started at 20/2/06 and the process was changing the roof tile and besides that, an additional layer of zinc sheet is layed before the tiles are being placed. There are 2 purposes in doing this, 1) Water proof and 2) Tighten security but of course the bad point is when any fire emergencies, the water are blocked right from the top...no perfect world man!! The picture was taken in 22/2/06 and to date the tiles are completely replaced. It took them only 6 days to finish the job and then my $$ flied away...

A house....a shelter for your loved ones

Owning a house is not easy, what more renovating a house :) Yes, this is our house under massive renovation, this is just the beginning...the roof tiles are being replaced as shown in the picture...imagine renovating a 30 years old house...hell lot of work to be done...more to come!!
